8-30-2021 Tampa Bay Times - Agro-Ecology could be the answer to the worst Red Tide problems

8-21-2021 - An enormous Red Tide bloom stretches from Tampa Bay/Clearwater all the way to Captiva and the Pine Island Sound. This bloom was precipitated by a fertilizer wastewater spill in Tampa Bay, and ocean/gulf currents have collaborated to keep the bloom onshore, instead of moving it into deeper water where it can disperse.

If there is a saving grace from this disaster, it's that we have done a good job of managing releases from Lake Okeechobee, and these nutrient laden waters are not complicating this bloom.
